Green…1//4 yard
Stems…1/8 yard
Flowers…1/4 yard
Centers…from scraps
Pink…1/4 yard (9 x 45)
Border…1/4 yard
Binding…1/4 yard
Back… 3/4 yard
Applique
Applique by hand or machine: fusible applique, needle
turn, or turn edges around a foundation pattern.
Background
Cut ( 2) strips 6 1/2” x 45”
A - cut 14” piece
B - cut 11 1/2” piece
C - cut 6 1/2” piece
D/F - cut (2) 9 1/2” pieces
E - cut 8 1/2” piece
G - cut 16” piece
Green sashing
Cut (2) strips…2” x 45”
Cut (2) pieces…2” x 27”
Cut (4) pieces…2” x 6 1/2”
Sew the short sashing strips to the background, as
shown
Between A/B, between C/D/E, and between F/G
Sew the long sashing strips to the background as shown
Borders…
Pink…Cut (2) 1 1/2” strips
Sew to the left and bottom sides
Print…Cut
(2) 4” strips
Sew to the left and bottom sides
Stems
Cut (3) 3/4” strips
Fold in thirds long-ways. Press
Binding…
Black…Cut (3) 2 1/2” pieces
Flowers and centers
Finished flower (see above)
Make a pattern from flower outline.
Each flower will have 4 petals.
Make a pattern for the flower center
Prepare the flowers and centers for applique using
your preferred method (fusible applique, needle turn, or wrapping the fabric
around a foundation pattern.)
Lay out the stems and flowers
Lay the longest stem piece on the quilt, pin in place
Add the small stems, pin in place
Place the flowers on the stems, pin in place
Adjust placement or add more flowers (mine were sparse
for the lettering to show)
Applique the pieces to the quilt
Applique the flower centers
Highlight the flower detail with embroidery thread or
do it with your quilting.
Layer/baste the quilt, quilt it by hand or machine,
and bind the quilt.
