PURCHASE ONE OF MY E_BOOKS

An old dog trying to learn new tricks: writing stories, photography, blogging, Photoshop (ugh). Not sure there's enough life left to master ever changing technology. In the meantime, please read my stories. They may be purchased at www.smashwords.com/profile/view/MLDanielson

Quote from my author friend, Ron Dee:

Ron Dee: “Writers don't ever really stop writing. Even when you take a break some part of your mind is writing. The part of where you actually put the words onscreen or on paper from using a keyboard, typewriter or pen is just the activity most associate with writing.”

Absolutely, I say!  My characters possess me, they roam through my mind constantly.  I often see movies in my mind of their actions.  Scenes replay repeatedly until I rush to the computer to revise them.  Can’t sleep?  May as well get up and write something, maybe just a note will do it.  For years this has happened, but never before have I let my characters loose, to tell me who they are and what they want to do.  They drive my stories more than I drive them.

My published characters have ceased talking to me.  Perhaps, once released, they find peace.  If this is true, I’m not sure I want to finish Mikal’s Web Trilogy, because for eighteen months I have shared every waking moment with Mikal, Suzy, and Jesse.  Forest Fairies (Book #1) is published.  Up the Ivory Staircase is near completion, and Broken by an Angel has a few months to go. It will be hard to hit the final Upload button to send them on their way alone, without me, into the world of eBooks.

You can meet Mikal, Suzy, and Jesse in the free sample chapters of Forest Fairies.

Nimrod Conference for Writers

Wonderful day at the Nimrod Conference for Writers and Readers at the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Opening class was a panel on Editing and publishing.

Second class was conducted by Sultana Banulescu on narration from a childs point of view, keeping in mind their age, vocabulary, experiences, and perception of the world we see and experience as adults.  Must try a short story soon, before my feeble mind forgets her wisdom.

At lunch Linda Pasten read poems and Amy Bloom read a short story.

Third class was by Amy Bloom on opening and closing your story.  Included were lists of 100 best openings and 100 best closings.  A challenge for every story.

This is an annual event for a very resonable fee.  Nimrod sponsers writing contests, so check their site.

Ready to publish to Ebooks.

Almost a year and a half after my first words hit paper, I am ready to upload my first full novel, Forest Fairies, Book #1 of Mikal's Web Trilogy. The stories began as a fictional reflection on my young adult years in Sa Diego, and grew into three novels.  Up the Ivory Staircase, Book #2, should be complete by Christmas, and Broken by an Angel, by early 2012.  I can not count the hours involved in completing these books, but I am hooked on writing. Get ready to read.
